While eating healthy + drinking lots of water are beauty regime basics, one of the best-kept beauty secrets around is dry brushing.  We’re here to give you the scoop on why we’re totally obsessed with dry brushing & why you’ll love it too!

Not surprising, dry brushing is AMAZING for achieving that golden glow. When it comes to dry brushing, invest in a natural fiber brush (available for under $10 at most natural foods + beauty stores). 

Bye, Bye Cellulite 

We were totally skeptic about this until we tried it ourselves! Dry brushing aids in the distribution of fat deposits, tightening the skin and reducing the appearance of cellulite. 

Health Benefits

In addition to the external benefits such as radiant + super soft skin, dry brushing has a TON of health benefits including aiding the body’s natural detoxification process. (PS - Don’t be alarmed if your sweat starts to smell a bit different after this regime – that means it’s working!) In addition, dry brushing helps improve circulation.  

Nature’s Dose of Caffeine

Dry brushing in the morning helps awaken your body.  We like to think of it as nature’s coffee ;) 


Now the How-To:

1. Starting at your feet, begin to brush upwards as you make your way up to your chest. When you brush, always brush towards your heart, as you’ll want to work up in the same direction as your lymphatic system.

2. Give each area a firm brush using long strokes. Avoid brushing areas with skin cuts or rashes as well as your face. Be gentle on sensitive skin and areas that are more prone to sensitivity.

3. Once you’ve brushed your entire body, hop in the shower and wash off the dead skin. Don’t forget to add some coconut oil for oh-so soft skin!

4. Drink lots of water! We love to end our daily ritual with a cup of hot tea + pinch of lemon.

5. Make sure to wash your brush once or twice a week!

No… they’re not just for kids! This spring pigtails are making a comeback! Spice up yours by opting to style them into relaxed braids or fun fishtails.


DISTRESSED LOW BUN
This style is a great way to tie a look together and so easy to do! Gather hair at the nape of your neck and begin to wrap into a ponytail with an elastic. Before stringing your hair all the way through, fasten the elastic around your hair toward the bottom with the ends flaring out. Pull bits and strands out as desired for an oh-so-messy but put together look.



STREAMLINED BRAIDS
This season tight, streamlined braids are the new loose, bohemian braids! Take yours one step further by making it a French braid.



BEACHY WAVES
And of course, a hairstyle that will never lose its chic (& our personal fav): effortless beachy waves. To achieve this look, use any sea salt hairspray and spray into damp hair. Twist sections as you go and let hair dry naturally.

We adore the smell, we love the taste, but what about its beauty benefits? Here are a few ways coconut oil can transform your hair, your face, and your body:



YOUR HAIR
If your hair spent a lot of time in the sun this summer, using coconut oil as a conditioner is perfect for restoring all that moisture lost to those wonderful sun rays. All you have to do is thoroughly apply the oil to your hair and leave it in for 30 minutes to an hour. Once done, rinse your hair with shampoo and enjoy your shiny locks!



YOUR FACE
Contrary to popular belief, oil is great for the skin - even if you have oily skin. Oil attracts oil, so using coconut oil as a cleanser before bed is a great way to keep skin clear and healthy looking (not to mention it can also double as a great makeup remover!)


YOUR BODY
Keep your skin soft and glowing by adding coconut oil to your skincare regimen. You can use it as a moisturizer by applying it your body. You can turn it into a body scrub by mixing 2 parts salt or sugar with 1 part coconut oil. And though the jury's still out, we’ve heard it’s a natural SPF and love to use it as tanning oil!

Oh Miami Swim Week...how we miss you, so. In honor of #TBT we're throwing it back to Saturday night's L*Space runway show at the Raleigh Hotel; with a quick and easy tutorial on how you can re-create the siren of the sea inspired "wet hair"...without looking like you just stepped out of the shower ;) 

We had Jonathan Levi Powell, of Jonathan Products, and his glam squad backstage to create this mermaid-inspired hair look. Here's how you can get the same look at home!



1. Spray hair with moisture for easy styling. 



2. Run Jonathan Product Hydracurls Leave-In Conditioner through wet hair to increase moisture and prevent frizz. 



3. Part hair horizontally in three sections. 

4. Starting with the section closest to the nape of the neck, take 1 inch sections and run Jonathan Product Hydracurls Styling Gel Creme through the hair from the root to tip. 



5. Add waves to each i inch section by twisting hair between fingertips starting at the root and working down to the tips. 

6. Repeat until the entire section has been twisted piece by piece, then move to the next divided part working up towards the roots. 

7. Spray the entire section with Jonathan Product Hydracurls Reactivating Sea Mist to seal in moisture for the perfect beachy wave.
