You know the ones -- the suits that you can picture in your mind with just a three or four word description.  Ursula Andress in Dr. No.   Bo Derek in 10. The Farrah Fawcett poster.  But as much as it was about the great swimwear, it was also about the confidence of the women who wore them.  Groundbreaking, skin-baring looks that inspire us all to feel and look THAT good.

Pictured clockwise from top left: Brigette Bardot in Cannes (one of the first to ever don a bikini); Bo Derek in 10 (as much about the hair as the suit); Ursula Andress in Dr. No (a definite POWER bikini); Elizabeth Taylor in Suddenly Last Summer (body BARING for its time); Demi Moore in Charlie's Angels; Halle Barry; and of course, Farrah.  In a word, FABULOUS.

Love at first sight?  Absolutely.  Practical?  Yes ... but that's just a bonus.  The real reason we LOVE beach hats is that like a great suit, a great BEACH HAT is to die for.  They're the second most important fashion statement on the beach (after the bikini, bien sur) and the ultimate fashion accessory when all you've got on are totally fashionable and tiny bits of gorgeous fabric. We're CRAZY about beach hats!  Check out some of our favorites above.

*hats by Flora Bella, Helen Kaminski and San Diego Hat Company.

This week we trekked to an undisclosed location to shoot scenes for our 2012 video. Our favorite models Corinn and Jaimie had so much fun playing in the waterfalls, trails, and dodging snakes along the way.

Yes, I said snakes!

Our precious Monica had her life flash before her eyes as a rattle snake lunged at her while hiking back to the car. Thankfully, the snake was hypnotized by the gorgeous models in our swim wear and retreated back to his hiding place leaving our fearless leader unscathed. We can't wait for you to see the video launching this fall!

Sunny day: check.  Soft warm breeze: check.  Perfect beach music: check.

The ideal beach day deserves its own soundtrack.  Like music by Donavon Frankenreiter.  Or Jack Johnson.  Or Bossa Nova (think The Girl from Ipanema).  Maybe Iron and Wine.  Or Colbie Caillat.  Perhaps Bob Marley.  Whatever your preference, the right music is like the icing on the cupcake of a great beach day.

We'd love to know what's on your beach iPod.  Do tell!
